Cynthia Cannon MD, FACOG

Dr. Cannon joined the Avenues Women’s Center in 1995. A southern California native, she graduated cum laude from UCLA. After attending University of California San Diego Medical School, she received her medical degree in 1991. A memorable part of medical school was spent overseas, involving clinical rotations in Sydney and rural New Zealand. Her specialty training was obtained at the University of Utah and she has been board-certified continuously since 1997.

Although her practice includes all aspects of general obstetrics and gynecology, her particular areas of interest include prenatal care and delivery, infertility, management of abnormal pap smears and abnormal bleeding, contraception (including in-office sterilization) and menopause. She enjoys working together with each woman to understand and meet her needs.

A mother herself, she loves being with her husband and two children. Her lifetime interest in exercise has recently led to triathlon. She also enjoys reading, traveling and healthy cooking. She has truly become a Utahn, appreciating the combined values of family, outdoors and healthy living.

L. Jeanne Gemmell MD, FACOG

Dr. Gemmell is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist. She has been in practice with Avenues Women’s Center physicians for over 20 years. She graduated from Loma University School of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology in Los Angeles at White Memorial Medical Center.

She enjoys gynecologic surgery including laparoscopy, hysterectomy, in-office hysteroscopy, permanent sterilization and endometrial ablation. Her favorite professional activity is caring for pregnant women and delivering their babies. She performs vaginal birth after Cesarean, breech version, vaginal twin deliveries and delivers her own patients. She also enjoys treating menstrual disorders, infertility and menopause.

Her non-professional life involves family and friends, skiing the deep powder, shopping with her teenage daughters, mountain biking, hiking, and playing the piano.

Vicki L. Macy MD, FACOG

Dr. Macy has been a Board-Certified Ob/Gyn physician for 30 years and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She began her medical career at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. This included an obstetrics rotation at the Rotunda Maternity Hospital in Ireland. She then became the first woman to complete her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah.

After her residency, she began private practice in Bozeman, Montana, but soon moved back to Salt Lake City, where she started her own practice. This practice now grown and thrived for the last twenty-five years, currently as the Avenues Women’s Center.

Dr. Macy is respected by the medical community for her proficiency and integrity, and by her patients for her compassion and personal attention. She is committed to individualized patient care and is available for the deliveries of her patients more than 90% of the time. She is happy to accommodate the various needs and desires of her patients, but always keeps in mind safe and practical medical management and the standard of care agreed upon by the medical community. She is proud to maintain a very low cesarean section rate of 12%.

Dr. Macy has a passion for her work, especially obstetrics. Her other areas of special interest include infertility, management of menopause and performance of gynecologic surgery, including vaginal and laparoscopic techniques. She highly enjoys caring for her patients through all the stages of their lives.

Dr. Macy was born in Idaho and has lived in Oregon, California and Montana before finally settling in Utah. She is married with three children and two incredibly wonderful grandchildren. She enjoys international travel with her family to exotic places, particularly where she can enjoy viewing wildlife in their natural habitat. She and her husband raise thoroughbred horses on their ranch in Wyoming. She also enjoys opera and dancing.

Lucinda J. Robinson MD, FACOG

Dr. Robinson joined the Avenues Women’s Center in 1992. She is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist. Dr. Robinson is a native of Utah and graduated from the University of Utah. She attended the University of Utah School of Medicine then completed a four-year residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. She is currently the chairman of the OB/GYN Quality Assurance-Peer Review Committee for the Urban Central Region of Intermountain Healthcare.

Dr. Robinson and her staff provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care for women of all ages. She is the primary care physician for the majority of her patients, assisting them in keeping up to date on their general health maintenance. Her interests include prenatal care and delivery, infertility, management of abnormal bleeding and abnormal PAP smears, contraceptive options, and menopausal issues. She particularly enjoys spending the time to get to know her patients and working with her patients to improve the quality of their lives. She prefers to be present for the deliveries of her own patients as do her partners.

Dr. Robinson enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage children. She enjoys reading, hiking, playing tennis, watching her children play sports, and traveling with her family.

Shani D. Allred, FNP

Shani received both her Baccalaureate and Master’s of Science in Nursing from Westminster College in 2003 and 2009 and specializes in family practice medicine. She is board certified through the American Nursing Credentialing Center. Her interests include women’s health, obstetric emergency medicine, and surgical first assisting. In addition, Shani enjoys teaching students in the undergraduate RN program at Westminster College where she is a Clinical Adjunct Faculty member.

Kathleen Kuntz, APRN-WHNP

Kathi is a native New Yorker who travelled the world before finally settling in Salt Lake City. She started her career as a science writer and editor in New York City but somehow found herself joining the Peace Corps after a few years in the rat race. It was in Thailand that she fell in love with health education and healthcare while living and working in an orphanage of HIV-positive children. She spent several years traveling through most of Asia and Europe before returning home to obtain a Master’s Degree.

Kathi attended the University of Pennsylvania and earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a specialization in the Healthcare of Women in 2002. Since then, she’s been loving her career as a Nurse Practitioner in Salt Lake City. She is skilled in all aspects of gynecologic and obstetric care across the lifespan and has a particular interest in solving difficult cases of chronic vaginitis and chronic pelvic pain. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, skiing, gardening and hanging out with her energetic 5 year son and her husband.

Cynthia M. Stanger, CNM

Cyndi is a Certified Nurse Midwife. She has worked at Avenues Women’s Clinic for nineteen years. She earned both a BSN and a MSN from the University of Utah. She is certified by the College of Nurse Midwifery, however she does not perform deliveries. Her clinical interests include women’s healthcare from adolescence through the peri-menopause, infertility, and prenatal care. She especially enjoys all aspects of patient education. She has served as a clinical instructor for Salt Lake Community College and Westminster College. Cyndi is from Utah and speaks Spanish. She and her husband have three teenage boys.

Hilary M. Verson, RN,MS,FNP

Ms. Verson has been a nurse practitioner for 27 years, the last 15 at Avenues Women’s Center where her focus is gynecology. She obtained her master’s degree from Pace University, Pleasantville, NY. Ms. Verson is nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has worked in a variety of medical settings including family practice, adult medicine, and geriatrics. She was on faculty at the University of Utah College of Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner Program before joining Avenues Women’s Center.

Ms. Verson has lived in Utah since l972 enjoying hiking, camping, and cross-crountry skiing.
